چکیده

We have introduced concurrency into the framework of Sandewall. The resulting formalism is capable of reasoning about interdependent as well as independent concurrent actions. Following Sandewall’s systematical method, we have then applied the entailment criterion PCM to selecting intended models of common sense theories where concurrent actions axe allowed, and proved that the criterion leads to only intended models for a subset of such theories.

(Re) Making the Procrustean Bed? Standardization and Customization as Competing Logics in Healthcare

Recent years have witnessed a parallel and seemingly contradictory trend towards both the standardization and the customization of healthcare and medical treatment. Here, we explore what is meant by ‘standardization’ and ‘customization’ in healthcare settings and explore the implications of these changes for healthcare delivery. We frame the paradox of these divergent and opposing factors in te...

Elimination of Quantifiers and Undecidability in Spatial Logics for Concurrency

The introduction of spatial logics in concurrency is motivated by a shift of focus from concurrent systems towards distributed systems. Aiming at a deeper understanding of the essence of dynamic spatial logics, we study a minimal spatial logic without quantifiers or any operators talking about names. The logic just includes the basic spatial operators void, composition and its adjunct, and the ...

Effects of Concurrent Group Dynamic Assessment on Iranian EFL Learners’ Pragmatic Competence: A Case of Requests and Refusals

Pragmatic competence is one of the most important components of successful communication; also, it is the most difficult aspect of SLA. This study aimed to explore the effects of concurrent group dynamic assessment (G-DA) on Iranian EFL learners’ learning of requests and refusals, following a mixed method design. In the experimental part of the study, 2 intact classes were homogenized by a pret...

Specifying and Verifying Distributed Intelligent Systems

This paper describes first steps towards the formal specification and verification of Distributed Artificial Intelligence (DAI) systems, through the use of temporal belief logics. The paper first describes Concurrent METATEM, a programming language for DAI, and then develops a logic that may be used to reason about Concurrent METATEM systems. The utility of this logic for specifying and verifyi...
